Thesis defense of Tiphaine Berberian, doctoral student in the Lasers group, on March 1, 2021.

Resume :
New laser sources can help to understand the functioning of the brain, which is a crucial step towards potential treatments for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or multiple sclerosis. The analysis of the functioning of this organ can indeed be done through the use of light and in particular of specific laser sources. The type of sources presented in this thesis allows the stimulation of nerve impulses and the observation of their propagation in the neuronal network.
In this manuscript we present the design and realization of a laser source that allows the generation of a nervous signal and its simultaneous observation. Our solution is very promising both for the users, who could thus have a single source, and from the point of view of laser research with the development of a laser with compact and energetic thulium amplifiers.
